  1. v1.4

Light themes, your own domain, and a Vault that cleans every file type

The biggest look-and-feel release so far: every theme has a light twin, and the dashboard itself can be recoloured. Plus custom domains, an escape from Instagram's in-app browser, and a Vault that cleans every file type.

    • NewLight themes — all eight presets now have a light twin, switched with a Dark/Light toggle above the theme grid. Noir stays dark-only.
    • NewCustom domains — point your own domain at your page instead of using obsydian.vip/yourname. Verification happens automatically once your DNS record is detected.
    • NewDashboard colourways — pick how your dashboard looks in Settings. Dark and Light are free for everyone, and it can follow your device at sunset.
    • NewRosewater — a blush colourway for your dashboard, exclusive to Studio and above.
    • NewThis page — a public changelog, and a What's New screen in the dashboard.
    • NewA single home for the free tools, explaining what each one is for.
    • ImprovedAnimated backgrounds now work on light pages — shimmer, aurora, stars, rays, drift, fade and noir each got a light treatment instead of being switched off.
    • ImprovedThe dark themes are easier to tell apart — they keep real colour in the gradient instead of all fading to the same near-black.
    • ImprovedLinks opened from inside Instagram or TikTok now jump out to your real browser — so the fans who tap through can actually sign up and pay, instead of hitting a login that won't work.
    • ImprovedThe free metadata checker now reads HEIC straight off your camera roll — the file most likely to still carry your location — plus PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and video.
    • ImprovedEvery metadata check now explains what the result actually means, including a clean one.
    • ImprovedThe Media Vault now scrubs HEIC, PNG, WebP, AVIF and video, not just JPEG. Those formats were being stored with your GPS location intact; they aren't any more. Picture quality is untouched.
    • ImprovedYearly pricing now shows a per-month figure, so it's comparable with monthly at a glance.
    • ImprovedA dot on What's New in the sidebar when there's something unread.
    • ImprovedBetter upload handling and more analytics detail across the dashboard.
    • FixedThe free watermarker used to sit there doing nothing on a HEIC photo. It now tells you why and what to do instead.
    • FixedAdding a contact or mailing-list block could stop the editor saving at all.
  2. v1.3

Analytics you can trust, and multiple profiles

Most link-in-bio analytics quietly count bots and let you believe the number. This week separates real humans from the noise — and Obsydian Black accounts can now run up to five profiles from one login.

    • NewCountry blocking — stop entire countries from loading your page.
    • NewObsydian Black: run multiple profiles from one account, switched from the sidebar.
    • NewLive visitor counter in analytics.
    • NewImproved import — bring your existing page over from more places.
    • NewA setup checklist on the dashboard, so a new account always has an obvious next step.
    • NewProfile photo gallery.
    • NewMedia Vault now re-checks stored file hashes on a schedule, so tampering is detected rather than assumed away.
    • ImprovedBot-filtered analytics — automated traffic is separated out instead of inflating your view count, with a flag when a link's click-through rate looks artificial.
    • ImprovedLanding page rebuilt — motion, a real phone preview, and the free tools given room.
    • ImprovedDowngrading from a paid plan keeps your Media Vault contents through a grace period instead of dropping them.
    • ImprovedLeak Check is behind a Turnstile check now, which keeps it fast and free for real users.
    • FixedProfile preview sizing and card text scale — the preview now matches what visitors actually see.
  3. v1.2

Page versions, countdowns, and honest trials

Smaller week, aimed at making changes safe to make. You can now save your whole page as a version and switch back if you don't like it — nothing you do to your page is one-way any more.

    • NewPage versions — save your design and links as a version and switch between them any time. Switching backs up your current page first, so it's never destructive.
    • NewChained countdowns — run one countdown into the next on the same link.
    • NewBlack tier premium finishes — a metallic gold ring on your avatar and the gold dashboard — plus invisible tracing marks on the files you send out.
    • NewFree trials, shown honestly in the pricing tiers rather than buried at checkout.
    • ImprovedDowngrading now tells you exactly what you'll lose before you confirm it, and deleting your account warns you properly about what goes with it.
    • FixedLeak Check reliability — fewer failed scans on large images.
    • FixedThe mobile top bar bounced around when you dragged a pinned panel. It doesn't now.
    • FixedSocial icons picked up the wrong colour on some themes.
  4. v1.1

Per-subscriber watermarks, the Media Vault, and DMCA takedowns

The biggest week by a distance, and the one where the core idea landed: every subscriber gets a differently marked copy, so a leak names its source. Alongside it, a vault for your originals, a takedown generator, and a rebuilt dashboard home.

    • NewPer-subscriber watermarks — send each subscriber a differently marked copy, so a leak names whoever it came from.
    • NewMedia Vault (beta) — timestamped storage for your originals, so you can prove what you had and when.
    • NewDMCA takedown generator — produces a filled, sendable notice instead of leaving you to write one from scratch.
    • NewFree Leak Check and watermark tools that need no account at all.
    • NewAudience capture — collect emails from your page and export them. They're yours.
    • NewInstall Obsydian as an app — it opens from your home screen like any other.
    • NewRich embeds — music, video and posts play inside your page instead of bouncing people away.
    • NewCustomization batch: status scheduler, per-link colours, social icon position, brand logo, video backgrounds, half-width cards, and new effects, shapes and fonts.
    • NewImport your page from Linktree, and schedule links to appear and disappear on their own.
    • NewLink drafts — build a link and publish it when you're ready.
    • NewRedeem codes, for comped and founding accounts.
    • NewA logo library, personalised QR codes, and per-link visibility toggles.
    • NewFull-width and half-width card tiles, with per-card focal point and zoom.
    • NewContact form, share sheet, abuse reporting and a faster handle claim.
    • NewVerified badge and commission status on profiles.
    • ImprovedA desktop preview in the editor, so you can see the page as visitors on a laptop get it.
    • ImprovedDashboard home overhaul: a real traffic chart, a recent-activity feed, top links and plan usage in one view — plus a full activity log so the feed isn't a dead end.
    • ImprovedPages load faster — analytics logging no longer blocks the page from rendering.
    • ImprovedSearch and social previews: proper titles, descriptions and share cards across the whole site.
    • FixedA long list of mobile dashboard problems: scroll traps, the top bar overflowing, sheets bleeding sideways, charts sized wrong, the add-link button missing.
    • FixedUpgrade prompts sent you to the signed-out pricing page instead of billing. They now go straight to billing.
    • FixedComped accounts couldn't downgrade to Free, and were shown a billing portal that didn't apply to them.
    • FixedThe sign-in box rendered dark text on a dark background, making it nearly unreadable.
  5. v1.0

    The foundation

Where the log starts — everything Obsydian was on day one. Billing, the watermarker, real analytics and the page builder. Everything since has been built on top of it.

    • NewSubscriptions and billing, with watermark quotas per plan.
    • NewThe watermarker: presets, QR codes, and batch processing.
    • NewPage builder — link display modes (image, icon, card), cover header, avatar shape, size and glow, font picker with live preview, and drag to reorder.
    • NewReal analytics: profile views and link clicks, wired to the dashboard.
    • NewHighlight links, niche highlighting and archiving.
    • New18+ age gate and an NSFW link flag.
    • NewPricing in your local currency, and an annual billing option.
    • NewComparison pages against the other link-in-bio tools.
