Obsydian/The Converter
Conversion

Your link doesn't open in a browser.
It opens inside Instagram.

No saved passwords. No Apple Pay. Signed out of everything. Obsydian hands the tap to their real browser instead.

01 What's actually happening

Everything they saved is on the wrong side.

An in-app browser is a WebView: its own cookie jar, no key to the system keychain. Same phone, different sandbox — so the tap you spent everything to earn lands somewhere they can't buy from.

Obsydian hands the link to their real browser instead — every page, every plan, nothing to switch on.

03 Now, not later

“I'll come back to it” is a no.

A link can carry its own deadline — a timer above it while it's live, or a countdown that keeps it visible and locked until the moment it opens.

Spring set drops in

One setup, three phases — the banner flips its label and its target at the boundary, the link unlocks itself, and the whole thing comes down on time. Sped up here; the real one runs for as long as you set it.

Timers are Studio; the chained countdown is Black.

04 Between the tap and the checkout

The page itself is part of the checkout.

They've arrived. Now it's down to how long they stare at nothing, whether the thing that pays looks like anything, and how many taps stand in front of it.

Loads in a blink
Server-rendered, shipping almost nothing: your page paints on arrival rather than after a bundle downloads. A fan who tapped from a story is gone long before a spinner finishes.
Behaviour, not a benchmark — we don't publish a figure we haven't measured.
Reads like a storefront
Give every link its own thumbnail and your page stops looking like a list of blue text — the eye goes straight to the one that pays. Product cards carry a price and their own call to action.
Thumbnails, product cards and live players are free, on every page.

And the tap nobody needed to spend

An age warning keeps Meta and TikTok happy and costs you a tap from everyone else. Smart 18+ shows it only to the traffic that came from a platform which asks for it.

From InstagramWarned first
From anywhere elseStraight through

Instagram, Threads, Facebook, Messenger and TikTok see the gate. Everyone else goes straight through.

05 Proof

Analytics that actually tell you something.

Which links land, where visitors come from, when they show up. Every outbound tap routes through Obsydian before forwarding — and the write happens after the redirect is already sent, so analytics never sit between a fan and where they were going.

Per-link click tracking
Know exactly which platform your audience taps — and which links to drop.
Country & referrer breakdown
Country-level only. Enough to understand your reach, never enough to track a person.
Peak-hours insight
See when your fans actually show up, so you post when it counts.

Seven days of history free, 30 on Studio, 90 on Black. No names, no emails, no location finer than country, no ad pixels — and nothing sold to anyone, ever.

Questions

The bits people ask about.

Why does Instagram open links in its own browser at all?
Because it keeps you in the app — tap back and you're still scrolling. The side effect is that its webview is a separate storage sandbox from your real browser, so nothing you've saved there is available.
What if the visitor hasn't got Chrome?
On Android the intent:// URL carries an https fallback, so they land on the same page either way. On iPhone there's no automatic route — Apple publishes no URL scheme for Safari — so they get an “Open in browser” button, and the page still works if they ignore it.
Is this against Instagram's rules?
No. What platforms penalise is cloaking — showing a crawler one destination and a visitor another. Here, every visitor and crawler get the same page and destinations; only which browser renders it changes, which visitors can already do themselves from the ••• menu.
Will fans notice it happening?
They see their browser open. No interstitial, no “redirecting…” screen, no extra tap. Clicks still count: the breakout hands over your /api/click/<id> redirect, not the raw destination.
What do I switch on, and what's paid?
The breakout, the deeplinks and link thumbnails are free and already on, with nothing to configure. Smart 18+ is off by default, so an existing age gate never loosens on its own. Scheduling, timers, short links and UTM tagging are Studio; the chained countdown is Obsydian Black.

Same link. One tap fewer.
