Can someone get around a country block with a VPN?
Yes. The block reads the country a connection appears to come from, and a VPN changes that. It stops casual local discovery, not someone determined to route around it — no geo-block does that.
Does hiding from search remove me from Google if I'm already there?
It stops new listings and drops the page from our sitemap. Google clears what it already has on its next crawl — days to weeks, or instantly with a removal request in Search Console.
Does taking my page offline delete anything?
No. It flips one setting on your profile. Links, photos, your handle, your analytics and your email list are exactly where you left them, and switching it back on restores the page as it was.
What's the difference between taking my page offline and forwarding it?
Offline returns a not-found page, so the handle looks unclaimed. Forwarding sends visitors to another address instead, so a link already printed somewhere still lands. Both are reversible and delete nothing. Forwarding is Studio and Black.
Can I have different safety settings per profile?
Yes — these settings live on the profile, not the account, so each page has its own blocked-country list, search setting and live/offline switch. Black includes up to 5 profiles on one login.
Can someone tell they've been blocked?
No. A blocked visitor gets the same not-found page as a handle that was never claimed — no message, no redirect, no preview.
Do I lose my links if I change my handle?
Your page is untouched — same links, same design, same analytics, new address. Copies of the old URL stop resolving, which is why a rename is limited to once every 30 days.
Does the contact form show anyone my email address?
No. Your address never appears on the page or its source. A message is emailed to you and kept in your inbox for 90 days, then auto-deleted. Replying is the first moment they learn your address — your call.
Do you send the takedown notice for me?
No — you send it, in your own name. The dashboard assembles the notice and fills in ownership details from your vault record; you review it and send it to the host's copyright agent. It's a self-service template, not legal advice.
What does Obsydian itself record about my visitors?
Country, referring site, device type and a daily-rotating token used to count unique visitors. No IP address is stored — built in on every plan, not a setting you have to find.
